I've taken one of the biggest grown up steps of my lifetime. I now officially own TWO key chains. I've always been deathly afraid of this transition, refusing to be willing to lose/find multiple key rings. Instead, I packed thirty keys on one ring that jingled like the White House janitor when I searched through my purse. Plus, it weighed about ten pounds. So, now I have a set of work keys and a set of home/car keys. I'm not convinced that this makes my life any easier, but I am convinced that if I lose them - they are both going to get lost at the same time. I had to add five minutes to my morning to account for that panic attack.
Speaking of mornings, I've concocted a plan for getting out of the house earlier each morning. As much as I want to blame my chronic tardiness on Mellow, the truth is that if I would just wake up 20 minutes earlier the morning would be less hectic. I have to chant that mantra to myself pre-5am when my alarm goes off. I've taken to preparing lunch the night before and setting out clothes and taking bets to see just how long this will work. Friday we were so early for school that we had to chill out in the living room because 10 minutes early is one thing, 25 minutes another. But we weren't LATE, so there's that.
In retaliation to the start of school, we've had two ridiculously lazy weekends in a row. Weekends with late breakfasts and late naps and late nights. A lot of it is due to knowing how busy every other weekend is in our life that these just have to be NOT that. Also, rain. Again. Everything is about to hit the fan with this first full week of school - soccer scheduling and football games and gym time and real Kindergarten homework that I don't feel guilty about the sofa indentation my butt made or the eight movies we watched this weekend.
