Determined to be the valedictorian of "fake it until you make it," I've started instituting small changes in my life.
I began by obsessively shopping May Designs for my new, fab scheduling book. My phone and computer and fridge weren't doing it. I needed something more tangible to (literally) hold on to.
My next change involved my morning drink. I am a caffeine girl, a solid two-a-day addict. I know that my "coffee" is not really coffee, but more like a sugared, calorific mess. Slowly but surely, I've transitioned to a full cup of black coffee that includes: 1/4 cup skim milk, 3 Sweet-n-Low, and a chai tea bag. This gives me the sweet, non-coffee taste with the caffeine. The other highlight - aside from a really low-cal start to the day, is that I LOVE chai tea and never have enough opportunities to drink it. I hit up a Crystal Light Energy (water mix-in) or V8 energy at lunch time to get me through my late afternoon workouts - but the coffee is the winner.
And speaking of workouts - I've just up and made up my mind to stop making excuses. I even told B. the other day that I wasn't making it to the gym because it would put me home too late and I wanted to be home with him (awww...) because we don't see enough of each other. He looked at me candidly and was all, go to the gym. I'll be glad to start dinner. You're being ridiculous. And I was. So there's that. Now, it's Thursday and my goal is to go EVERY DAY barring disaster except Sunday. AND I AM GOING TO DO IT...so, there's that.
And, like Ben Franklin, I am hoping to do this for two weeks and then adding more conquerables to my plate.
